Major - "Chief of Intelligence or Mistress of Knowledge"
The Chief of Intelligence oversees the workings of the Division as a whole. They also oversee all training and chart updates, and maintain the membership records within the charting system established. They also oversee the work of the Administrators, and delegate specific tasks to them as needed. The Chief of Intelligence completes a minimum of twelve arcane or lab hours a week.
Captain - "Adminitstator"
Administrators are the highest ranking member of their individual section. They may train Trainees and members of their section. They may also oversee practical training and sign off on case incident reports and chart updates for lower ranks. An Administrator may be promoted to Chief of Intelligence only upon the resignation of the current Chief of Intelligence. They are also responsible for a monthly update report on their section, to be sent to the Chief of Intelligence and the Curator. This will include a very simple description of who has completed training or cases. They are also asked to maintain a minimum of eight training hours a week, during which they supervise the Labs, Computer Center or Arcane Hall and are available if anyone is in need of assistance.
Lieutenant - "Scientist"
Lieutenants are the Scientists of the Intelligence Division . They are allowed to work on their own, and as numbers and usefulness allow, they may apply for other sections that will come to exist within the Division, as "subspecialties". The requirements to progress to Captain are these:
- Completion of Administrative Training and Teaching Certification.
- Completion of 20 hours of practical training hours, logged and supervised by the Chief Intelligence [major] or Administrator [captain] )
- Lieutenants may be promoted only when the rank of Captain is open in their field. They must also have been at the rank of Lieutenant a minimum of six weeks.
They are also asked to maintain a minimum of six Lab hours a week, during which they supervise the Lab Facilities and are available if anyone is in need of assistance.
Sergeant - "Scribe or Bookkeeper
Sergeants are the Intelligence Divisions Bookkeepers and Scribes. They are allowed to study on their own, and file their own chart updates and incident reports. They are also asked to maintain a minimum of four study hours a week, during which they supervise the lab and are available if anyone is in need of assistance. [ these should be logged. Basically, this is to ensure that the room is open and known as often as possible ... If someone cannot complete their hours in a given week they must let me know in email. ] In addition to this duty, they must also complete the following steps to be eligible for promotion to Lieutenant:
- Completion of 10 training in a secondary field other than their normal field of expertise.
- Completion of 10 hours of training (including supervised training and/or practical training hours, logged and supervised by the Chief of Intelligence [major] or Administrator [captain] )
- Sergeants are not eligible for promotion to Lieutenant until that are at this rank for a minimum of three weeks, to allow for thorough training.
Specialist - "field"
Specialist ranks are the first ranks that are divided by intended course of training. Specialists work primarily with their hands and their mind in one of the many fields within the Division They are just beginning their specialized training, and so they still may not work alone. Their work should be supervised, and they may post their own incident reports to member charts only after they have been reviewed and signed by the Chief of Intellience or Administrator. The Division Requirements for promotion include:
- Completion of Science Lab Training, and Weapons or Arcane orientation.
- Completion of 5 hours training in your chosen field of study"and/or practical training hours, logged and supervised by the Chief of Intelligence [major] or Administrator [captain] )
- Specialists are not eligible for promotion to Sergeant until they are at this rank a minimum of two weeks, to allow for thorough training.
Private - "Lab Rat"
These are the newest members of the Intelligence Program within SBA. They are not designated to a specific area of study. In order to progress to the next rank, the Division Requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Completion of in-person interview with Chief of Intelligence, to discuss history and prior training, as well as preferred placement.
- Completion of initial training and Intelligence center orientation
- Completion of 3 cases (including supervised training and/or practical training hours, logged and supervised by the Chief of Intelligence[major] or Administrator [captain] )
Trainees [privates] may not study on their own, but must be supervised by the Chief of Intelligence [major] or Administrator [captain]. They must also have their incident reports verified and filed by one of these and may not do chart updates themselves.
